Ji Jian Wu Collection

A Contemporary Take on Feng Shui Objects

Year

2025

Completed at

Design Incubation Centre
Commissioned by the NUS Office of University Communications, this collection presents five bronze miniatures inspired by traditional feng shui amulets. Designed by Lin Qiuxia, the Ji Jian Wu Collection offers a contemporary interpretation of Chinese cultural heritage, exploring the symbolic relationship between individuals and their environment through the lens of feng shui.

Each amulet embodies a distinct virtue. Qi Lin, a mythical chimaera, heralds wisdom and good fortune. Pi Xiu, a winged lion, serves as a guardian of wealth and souls. Jin Chan, the three-legged golden toad, represents prosperity. Ma, the noble horse, symbolises perseverance and success. Hu Lu, the calabash gourd, is a talisman for health and protection.

The miniatures are housed in a maple wood box with a paper sleeve and gold foil card insert, presented in a customised paper bag, designed to complement the collection’s cultural significance.

Another commissioned design and fabrication project for the Ji Jian Wu Collection, developed as a premium corporate gift set for the NUS Office of University Communications. The Twin Set (Qi Lin & Pi Xiu) showcases a refined display box featuring a maple wood frame and clear acrylic window, housing two porcelain figures securely nested in a precision-cut foam insert.
